Mythical, legendary and iconic; three words that sum up not only this Calendar but also the theme and its photographer, Karl Lagerfeld. Although it was shot entirely on location in Karl’s studio in Paris, graphic designer Dave Beddis’ animations lift the film out of the ordinary. Editor Terry’s favourite moment? The day director Stuart Chapman rang the edit suite with the news ‘Karl thinks it’s a masterpiece’!

Photographer Terry Richardson’s work is often described as controversial, explicit or downright outrageous; his 2010 Pirelli Calendar is no exception. As a result, the film shoot on a Brazilian beach was fun, sexy and mad in equal proportions.

Two weeks in the Okavango Delta trying to keep up with Peter Beard – he may be over sixty but he’s got the energy of a teenager. Snakes, bugs lions, pygmies – oh and a few top models make this Calendar film an exciting watch.

Pirelli Calendar

This project has been at the heart of Utopia Productions since 1993.

The original brief of “five minutes of fluff to screen at the Calendar launch event while people eat” has grown to the centre piece of the yearly launch of this photographic icon.   The Pirelli Calendar shoots have taken Director Stuart Chapman and his team all around the world filming and interviewing some of the top celebrities & models in film & fashion.

Cinematic both creatively and technically, the Pirelli Calendar launch films need the best gear and the best people and this is where Utopia steps up to the mark. Creative media: the power of ideas – this is what we do best.
